Frontier Hooks I, II, III

Frontier Hooks (I, II, III) are hand-painted aluminum coat hooks. Often romanticised in Western films and folklore, cowboys are seen as rebellious heroes—figures who lived by their own code and carved their path through the rugged frontier landscape of early 20th-century America. What’s often overlooked, however, is the significant presence of Black cowboys (estimated 25% of total), whose stories were rarely celebrated in the same way. With cowboy and ranch imagery deeply woven into cabin aesthetics, this piece is my way of remembering those iconic figure—bringing forward a narrative that’s been overshadowed.
